Sixteen veteran teachers at my school surplussed themselves today....that means they are voluntarily giving up their positions and will be placed elsewhere in the county, probably the new school that is opening in the fall.
I still haven't been called in and told that I am officially (involuntarily) surplussed yet.
Right now I THINK i'm the only music teacher in the county being surplussed, and they'll place me at my preference before the postings come out, and since my preference is the new school i'll probably end up there. I was planning on looking up in Tampa but now that all of those great teachers will be at the new school, it's looking pretty good too. We'll see.
Needless to say, things at work are VERY VERY tense right now. I like being home.
