it was this morning, and it went basically like every other teaching interview i've ever had. hopefully that's a good sign. it is a brand new charter school, still in modular buildings (read: trailers) but they are building a beautiful new school that will open this year. and they are going from 90 kids last year to 160 this year, so that's a sign that people are happy with the curriculum.
it is part time, although they said they could tie it in with something else if the person they hire wants full time. and the principal (well, 'chief academic officer') expects the enrollment to skyrocket after the building is done, so maybe it would turn into a full time music position in a few years when i'm ready to be back full time. so, all good.
i talked with the cao and with 2 other teachers for about 30 minutes, and they all seemed very receptive to what i had to say. they didn't ask any of the 'hard' questions that i always practice but nobody ever asks :) and they liked my portfolio. it reminded me of my seminole people reading every. single. word. of it when i interviewed with them. again, hopefully a good sign!
it might be a bit of a hike from downtown (it was 10 minutes from where we live now, more like 20 from downtown - shut up, i know i'm spoiled) but if it works, it works. i got lost. the road i needed to take was CLOSED. thank goodness my sweet husband stashed the map in my car before i left.
