first week of subbing

first of all, i think it is some insane timing that had me working through my first trimester (EXHAUSTED), home through my fabulous second trimester, and now going back to work within a week of starting the third trimester (exhausted again). it's just cruel.

it is also unfortunate that it is horribly unprofessional to post specific stories about schools on a public blog. even after just a week, i can already tell that i could start a separate "subbing blog" that would be highly entertaining.

ok.

first of all, i am not miserable. surprising to me, because the ONLY reason i wanted to work at seminole last year was that i loved my coworkers and the kiddos. it made it worth leaving daniel every day. i was afraid that i would absolutely HATE subbing because of the lack of connections with any of the staff or students. however, aside from not wanting to get up at 5:30 every morning, i am pretty happy to be working. another weird thing - i don't get nervous about not knowing what i am doing until around 6:30 each day, or not knowing anything about the school i am going to. very strange for me - i like to be able to visualize my entire year before i go in, but now, i don't even know WHERE any of these schools are!

anyway, i've been a hs band director, a 4th grade teacher, an elementary music teacher, and a hs spanish teacher this week. the day of elem music was FABULOUS. i wish i could do that every day. i have also been very lucky to teach close to our apartment almost every day. i even walked to one of the schools. i hope those jobs keep up.

i plan on working as much as possible for the next 9 weeks and taking the week before the c section off. most of them will be 4 day weeks, due to school holidays and mike's schedule.
