everything about a chorus program is crazy. choosing a show you think you can live with for 2-3 months. getting the kids to show up for practice. getting them to FOCUS at practice and learn the words. learning how to line up on the risers. getting all the kids' names on the program without leaving anyone out. the decorations. coordinating set-up with the custodians. returning umpteen parent phone calls despite having sent 2 or 3 notes home. squeezing all of my classes in on rehearsal and performance days. (all written out like that it doesn't sound like the insanity that it really is, so i guess you'll just have to trust me).
but wow, i do love performing. i love how excited the kids get. GENUINELY thrilled with singing on stage. i love the way the sound on their first song, when you can tell they are absolutely bursting with energy. i love the looks on their faces when they get applause. so addicting. and so worth all of the headache before.
