17 week appointment

i about freaked out when they took me back to my exam room -- there was an ultrasound machine in there all fired up and ready to go! but, i will have to wait. he said they schedule ultrasounds for 20 weeks, which is fine :)

i heard the heartbeat, finally! 16o beats per minute and strong! (daniel's was fast too, so that doesn't mean it's a girl). it took him a minute to find it, which freaked me out even though i have been feeling movement for a couple of weeks now. he was trying to make small talk about whether i want a girl or another boy while he had the doppler on me, and i was just about to hyperventilate. but, of course he found it.

i LOVED the doctor. LOVED him. he basically answered all of my questions before i even asked them - he knew what i'd want to know. he was very friendly and easy to talk to, and got me in and out of there very quickly without acting rushed. the nurses and staff were also really nice. so, i think i'm going to be happy with this office (even though it is a haul to get there).

he brought up scheduling the c section (reiterating my old doctor's feelings that i am a horrible vbac candidate based on my prior experience), which was going to be my first question anyway. he said they officially schedule it at the 27 week appointment, but that we could go ahead and look at the calendar and put the date on my chart. mike and i had already discussed it and decided what we wanted, and luckily our date fell on a friday, the one day a week the doctor performs scheduled sections.

it really couldn't have gone any better :)

ultrasound: Tuesday August 5th (3 weeks from today!)
baby's birth: Friday December 12th (just under 5 months away! eek!)
