i honestly don't know what to call this entry since it's about so many different things, but if i leave it completely untitled, it won't show up for those of you who live bookmark. so, "****" it is.

my last program at seminole is over. while i was conducting the end of the show, i wondered if i'd ever have a choir like that again. i hope so. i guess i've built one choir, so i can do it again. those kids are amazing. i do my fair share of complaining, but i sure can get a great sound out of them.
in my experience, teachers coming and going is a pretty non-eventful event, especially newer ones like me in a huge district like this. ones who have been around awhile sometimes get a nice gift. retirees obviously get a party. however, i got flowers, a gift, a tearful speech from my principal, and a standing ovation from the parents at the end of my concert. you just don't get that when you've only been someplace 3 years (and spent a fair percentage of that on maternity leave). so, i was very touched by the whole thing. i definitely won't ever forget it.
so, now the hard work is over. packing my room is a giant pain, but other than that, i'm almost done for the year. with field trips and other activities, there are only 2 or 3 days of actual teaching left.

i can't remember if i already wrote about this, but we did a big price drop on the house this week. we got our first call on it less than 12 hours later, so i have a feeling that will do the trick. someone was supposed to see it yesterday but she is rescheduling for the weekend. we also have an open house. after the open house, i'm going to start pulling together the things we are taking with us to our temporary apartment. the movers are taking care of EVERYTHING else.

mouse update - i saw the stupid thing in daniel's room while i was eating breakfast thursday morning. (at least, i hope it was the same mouse and not it's spouse or child or something.) anyway. after breakfast i stood on the toilet to finish my makeup while mike threw scooter in d's room, shut the doors, and blocked the cracks with towels. he went in there with a bucket and a broom. i left for work asap. mike called me 5 minutes later. he shooed the mouse out from under the dresser and scooter took care of the rest. GROSS.

apparently i'm starting to show. i could tell a difference in my stomach 2 days after the test was positive. (i'm not making that up or exaggerating, either.) anyway, people have been telling me that they can tell - somebody mentions it every day. last night, a parent congratulated me (i haven't told parents or kids). she thought i looked pregnant and asked one of the teachers.

finally, i would like to know why the hell my husband can't get a short term insurance policy when I'M pregnant. i can't find anyone who will insure an expectant father. if you can answer that question for me, i'd really appreciate it.
